Starting off the week just right: another 30min session on the anti-gravity treadmill this morning. And got to watch some more snow falling outside while doing so 👌🏻❄️💪🏻⠀

Love the freedom of running at normal pace and being absolutely pain-free! Today's session was running between varying periods of 70-80% weight with different pace intervals of 4:43 to 5:00min per km.⠀

Rehab of my tibia stress reaction (diagnosed in October) is going well and I'm enjoying the slightly longer outdoor runs in between the anti-gravity treadmill sessions. I do miss going out for a few hours at a time. But I'll equally celebrate the 30min run I'm able to now comfortably do!! .

#throwbackthursday - although I look happy in this photo - this is the race where injury struck and I was in a lot of pain. -

Injury sucks balls. Not being able to run for 7 weeks was not pleasant. A couple of times at the beginning I went to a dark place and my love for running disappeared. -
-

At the beginning of October I decided it was time to sort this mess out, as moping about wasn't about to make the situation any better. -
-

I joined the gym, started focusing on my core, lifting weights then slowly (sensibly) introducing running back into my routine. -
-

I've still got a way to go but last night I ran 10K with a consistent pace and NO PAIN! Happy is an understatement. -

Em 2015, foi publicada uma revisão de literatura na Revista Britânica de Medicina do Esporte mostrando que a corrida não é um esporte que acelera a artrose, ou desgaste dos seus joelhos. O estudo reuniu informações de outros dez artigos. Em oito desses artigos não houve aumento das chances da doença. Em uma publicação houve melhora dos sintomas em pacientes com artrose e, em apenas um estudo, feito com maratonistas de elite, as chances de artrose foram aumentadas. Na maioria dos casos houve redução nos mediadores inflamatórios. CONCLUSÃO:  A corrida, antiga “vilã” do joelhos, pode na verdade ser uma grande aliada.
