Honored to have been invited to present about Mental Health at the 12th Nakem Conference today, hosted by the UH Mānoa Ilokano Program. It felt very empowering to have the opportunity to shine light on mental illness in our Filipino community and to discuss stigma surrounding mental illness. It is through events like this that allows us to voice our stories, educate others, and advocate for the population we serve. Congratulations to the other panelists, alumni, and Timpuyog Ohana, for sharing your knowledge and experience. Agyamanak unay to the administrators of the Ilokano program for putting the event together, teaching me the knowledge I use daily in my profession, and help to preserve our language, voice, and culture. ❤️🇵🇭✊🏽🙌🏽

I never thought I could go vegan. I always thought that they just ate fruits and veggies and how there isn't a lot you can do with that. I never looked into much. When I decided to take this step for my health, I wasn't sure I would be able to stick with it, but I really wanted to. I looked into it, watched documentaries, looked up recipes, and researched everything I could think of that I wanted answers to. I'm so thankful I took the step and jumped in. I've felt a lot better, still lacking some energy, but the pain has diminished significantly, which was my goal. I am working on getting my energy levels up. I still have my struggles with pain and all, but it's nothing like it was. I have only been doing this since September 1st, so I'm no expert in it. I do keep seafood in my diet, but that is only like 1-2 times a week, if that. I have my family on this diet as well. I'm hoping it will help my youngest who has aspergers. He has food sensitivities and finally getting him 100% in starting last week, I'm hoping to see improvements with him. My older 2 aren't thrilled, but supportive. If you stick with it, it gets easier and more enjoyable. You can get creative and have fun with it.

After a full on weekend my body crashed magnificently this morning. Missed work but my body needed to heal bith spiritually and physically. Woke up later in the arvo. Spent time at the gym and then home to prep for the week. This week im going to try and have veges only for dinner.
