Today marks 2 Months since my Munnar expedition and I'm all kinds of missing the Mountains. I've been reading and re reading my journal to relive those gorgeous 3 weeks I spent exploring new flowers.
I never did tell you guys how I chanced upon these maidenhair ferns did I?
It was a Tuesday afternoon, when I got a call from the main cottage to come by for lunch. It was pouring buckets and I told them I'd come by after it patters down a bit. But an hour later it didn't look like the rain was going to give in.. Since I didn't want to starve myself I was just getting ready to go to the main cottage when I heard a knock on the door and there stood the jolly Malayali Chef with a tray full of steaming hot authentic native food. Amidst the food stood a tiny vase, with some gypsophilia and these gorgeous Maidenhair ferns.
I was truly taken aback by the gesture, not just his appearance with food at my doorstep but that he stopped to fill a vase with fresh flora - in the middle of a storm!
It was simply the best lunch and I later pestered him to show me where he found the baby Maidenhair ferns and that's when I found these beauties. This was the first piece made with the ferns and will always stay close to my heart. 🌿
