Be perfectly imperfect! When people apologise in person or on social media for their body shape or say they are striving for or wish for the perfect body I have to admit I have no idea what this means! What is the perfect body? Yes we are spoon fed images of skinny models and with the new craze of 'strong is the new beautiful' we are confronted with bikini clad, oiled, orange goddesses, beautifully toned and dehydrated to within an inch of their lives. Two ends of a scale, neither being practical to the majority and both requiring micro management of diet and nutrients. Impressive and incredible, yes!! Huge respect for the discipline and drive taken to achieve either look. Healthy and happy? Just like the rest of us, I'd imagine only a small proportion are. The way I have come to see it is that all our bodies are perfect. Perfect because they are perfectly adapted to the environment they inhabit. It's incredible really when you think about it, how clever our bodies are and how they achieve what we ask of them. Sure, if you don't exercise and overeat you are asking your body to become overweight. How clever is that! It stores excess energy for when you might require it. If you climb mountains your body will adapt and grow muscles for this, if you cycle or run then your body becomes the body of a runner or a cyclist because after all you are biking or running so you are a cyclist or runner. You can't blame your body or hate it for doing exactly what you're asking of it. Be proud of what your body is capable of and use your mind to decide what you want your body to be. Be Imperfectly perfect! #bodyimage #BodyStudio

Also, this was by far one of my favourite books of recent memory. The North Water is set during the dying days of the whaling industry in Hull and follows disgraced surgeon Patrick Sumner as he finds himself aboad the Volunteer ship and then dragged into a murder investigation. A brutal, bleak and compelling read that is perfectly written and reminiscent of 'Blood Meridian' by Cormac McCarthy. In fact, the very first line, 'Behold the man' is a very nice homage to the opening line of 'Blood Meridian ('See the boy'). Anyhow, this is a book I've highly recommended to everyone i know (And they loved it!) So please read it, you can even borrow my Spanish copy if that would help. Ian McGuire is just an incredibly talented writer and The North Water (released in paperback on Thursday) deserves the utmost success. #Thenorthwater #lasangrehelada #incrediblebodies #ianmcguire #beholdtheman

It's so easy to make negative comments about your body and be ruled by negativity in general. Break free from the Instagram labelled "fit" and "optimal physiques" of this day and age and strive for YOUR ideal body and YOUR happiest place. A positive comment or thought daily will change your mindset. Trust me, when you see your body in a positive way (flaws and all, because we all have them) your attitude, self belief, confidence will all follow and your physique will follow. -

ADVENTURE QUEST
Bodies the Exhibition

Atlantic Station, Atlanta

Looking deep within the amazing structures that are our bodies is absolutely fascinating!

The techniques that allow you to see the brain, bones, organs, tendons, muscles, arteries and veins is amazing.

The exhibit had been in various cities and is currently in Atlanta and Las Vegas. Visit Bodies the Exhibition website to check if it will be neat you in the future. You can often find discount tickets on Groupon as well. (not suited for young children - a "look and don't touch" educational oportunity.) #AtlantaGeorgia #BodiesTheExhibition #Instagram #Photos #AmazingBodies #Organs #Bones #Skeletons #Brain #Arteries #Veins #Groupon #Discounts #AtlanticStation #Educational #Anatomy #Instagram #RoadTrip #IncredibleBodies #Structure #FamilyFriendly #Fascination

I've just had the privilege of two days spent with @molliesun and the @stretch_london crew discovering the Franklin Method. My mind has been blown with the magnificent creation that is the human body and skeleton. The most precious vehicle you'll ever own is the one you reside in right now. I mean it's just incredible if you think about it. Learning to improve it's function is a great gift and one I'm so excited to discover more about. I highly recommend checking out Mollie, what a talent she has for teaching and getting a room of yoga teachers to let loose on a Friday afternoon. Big thanks to @fern_trelfa for introducing us to her ❤ gorgeous illustration by @merakilabbe #incrediblebodies #franklinmethod #movement #bodies #yoga #thehumanbody
