Can you spot a Zach and an Amy? Believe it or not, we were basically strangers in this photo. I remember it so clearly. I was in a little bus with a group from Greenville College on our way to Washington DC For the 2013 Presidential Inauguration. I woke up a few hours into our drive super disoriented and with a desperate urge to pee. I asked where we were and they said "We're in Indiana. We're picking up Zach Griffey at his house" i said "who?". After a few wrong turns, we pulled into the driveway and I immediately stepped off the bus only to find Zach Griffey standing there. I proceeded to introduce myself by shaking his hand and said "hi, i'm Amy and I really gotta pee, can I please use your restroom?". I had never really thought about what the first thing would be that I would say to the man who would later become my husband. Unfortunately that's not the sort of thing you can plan out really. Oh well! The first thing he said to me was "Yes" so that was good because i was serious about finding a bathroom! Guess which seat was the only one not taken on the little bus?! Yep, it was the one right next to me! So Zach Griffey sat by me and told me about how he liked hockey and playing the drums and how he thought we were in the same American History class together last semester. And I told him about how I was on the dance team or something. And guess who fell asleep on my shoulder? Yep. Zach Griffey did, but I didn't mind. I texted my mom about how a cute Junior guy was sitting next to me.. Now fast forward three years and a few months into the story and those two strangers in the photo are in the process of planning their wedding! Thank you to the guy who never showed up, which made for an extra ticket! And thank you to Julie Kerr, the lady standing behind me in this photo for thinking to invite Zach at the last minute! I owe you one!
