Ironman Waco 70.3 - Run recap
Gotta mention transition first. By the end of the bike I was feeling good, my legs felt slightly fatigued but I was ready to run. The last pic in here is showing me getting out of my shoes for a super fast transition. That didn't happen, ha. I was coming in hot toward the dismount line ready to jump off right into a very fast run. When my feet hit the ground, my legs completely gave out and my bike flipped up over me spilling all the contents from my QR box onto my head, haha. I was a little embarrassed for about a millisecond, but jumped right up, grabbed my shoe that came unclipped and started running to the bike rack. I ended up losing all my tubes, tools, Co2, and the top of my QR box. I wonder if they sell just the top? Anyway, after I got into transition, I think I just had to take more time to regroup. I was a little shaken and now a bit worried that my legs may not survive the run. T2 time was over 4 min, unacceptable even with a small crash, really got to work on my urgency in transition. Once I finally started the run, I began to feel the heat of the day and knew I probably wouldn't be able to achieve my ultimate run goal of 1hr30. Happy that ice was at every aid station and tried to keep my body cool. Took a few Gu's during the run, but didn't take in too many fluids. Overall felt really good after the first mile and maintained my HR at 160bpm. Def energized by all the participants and crowds. Happy with my results, very close to achieving my overall goal with a podium finish, maybe next time.
