My #WCW is Fredi Washington. This Savannah beauty is an actress from my FAVORITE film of All-Time ...the Academy Award-nominated, Imitation Of Life (1934 ...there's also a 1959. I LOVE and own both). After #ImitationofLife where Ms. Washington played a young woman who was passing (as white), people (at that time) became confused. Hollywood wondered if she was, Life "imitating" Art. Ms. Washington had a hard time getting new roles. She was told she wasn't black enough for the black roles (that were mostly maids) and when her agents wanted her to go out for white roles, this is what she said... "No matter how white I look, on the inside I feel black (1945)." Ms. Washington was classified as a Black American under the one drop rule (one drop of black blood in you meant that you were black). Btw, both of her parents were from black and European descent. Ms. Washington stopped working in the movie industry after, Imitation of Life. She then became a writer and a civil rights activist. She was a founding member of the Negro Actors Guild of America ...she fought for better opportunities for black actors. #FrediWashington ❤️

You all likely know #YourLovingArms, but have you heard #SpaceOasis? #ImitationOfLife? #RunningAroundTown or the epic hands aloft torch ballad #YouAndIKeepHoldingOn?! (Celine wishes!) Also, each single comes with remixes from people which as #BT and #BrothersInRhythm. Go listen, NOW! *glares*

#petpeeve: "Distressed" jeans. Let me get this straight: I'm going to pay EXTRA for pants with holes in them?

NO. 1,000 times NO.

I remember when a well-worn pair of jeans represented authenticity in fashion. If you see me with rips and holes in my jeans, I guarantee you I put them there myself, through my own, unique wear-and-tear formula: time + wear + wash + wear, repeat until desired effect is achieved.
There. I said it. Some of y'all have been hoodwinked and bamboozled. #SMH To me, they scream: "I haven't REALLY lived. I just LOOK LIKE I have." It's like putting fake stamps in your passport to make you look more well-travelled than you actually are. (By the way, I can hook you up. Just $5 per stamp. $2.50 for fictional countries like Zamunda. Except Wakanda. That's $25, 'cause it's really hot right now. Get at me.) #imitationoflife #ichoosestyle
