For me as well as so many other ladys, one or two weeks before the period is such a difficult time! Hormones do best what they can to get everything upside down and it feels impossible to control your emotions and reactions! Well this is far from fun and we need more awareness about that whole period topic! So please be kind to women if they're having a hard time, the emotional roller coaster is not just in our heads ;) So I keep on treating myself with some more tart.
PS: If you're dealing with really depressive mood changes etc. make sure you're connected to your feminine side. Often when you're female energy is blocked in some way you can experience horrifying symptoms like really bad cramps and those terrible mood changes.
