It's getting a bit warm, though the weather's still chilly early morning and at night so the hoodies are still a wardrobe necessity. All slammed up in blue (this girl 🤩🤩🤩 blue) and lime. It's almost time to resume my full yoga practice, which gets relegated to post workout stretching during the winter. Looking back on the past year and the challenges I've faced. I'm definitely in a better place, both emotionally (I'm still a work in progress) and physically (it shows 😏)!!! Last week I got several "You've lost too much weight" comments including from @rita_whodatnubian Last time I weighed myself, I was 57kilos; still within my bmi/ weight range SO y'all just need to chill; sorry babe 🙄 I look "skinny" because I've worked a lot of fat off; including from my stubborn butt and thighs. Hopefully this resolves my hormonal imbalance and I can become asymptomatic with respect to endo and goodness knows what else is going on in my body. I've become a lot stronger and that's something I'm gonna celebrate; my hustle IS paying off.

What do you see when you look in the mirror? I see someone I love and someone I’m proud of but I also see qualities I hate. I love my guts, passion, leadership, that my aspirations are boundless and I never lose hope. Every goal I set for myself, I achieve. This last statement is what hinders me. Reaching my goals, and checking boxes is how I have always defined happiness. While you have to have goals to live a meaningful life, it’s a double edge sword when you depend on those goals for fulfillment.

I do not like flattery and I can always count on @jakeph67 to spit the cold hard truth, and the truth hurts. Yesterday he said something to me that was eye opening and it felt like a punch in the stomach. He asked me why I don’t ever listen to him and why I don’t ever take my own advice. “You asked me to quit dipping so we can grow old together and I don’t get cancer, I’m asking you to chill out so you don’t die of a heart attack at 50.” Truer words have never been spoken. He encouraged me take off every date for all the goals I have (advice I give my own clients). He had me form a new bucket called “possible endeavors” which took the pressure off of myself that I immediately place once I have something in writing.

Now I know as humans, we are complex and emotional. Being honest with yourself and admitting your weaknesses is not an easy task.

I’ve always had anxiety issues and I’ve always hid them because I see it as weakness. I’ve realized how bad they are now that it effects my heart-rate, blood pressure, inability to sleep, trouble breathing, grinding my teeth, etc. I can’t relax if I’m not being productive. I feel guilty when I do things like watch tv. Ever since I was young, I’d have so many projects/goals manifesting in my brain and would repeat these crazy mantras in my head about failure never being an option.

As of yesterday I’ve accepted I can no longer burn the candle at both ends and must relax or I will not live a long life.

Anyone else relate to this? This is why I’m a good athlete, the iron is a temporary high. I have 0 anxiety when I am lifting because I’m hyper focused on the task at hand so the weight doesn’t kill me. #igdiary

I enjoy competing because I love to push myself to my limits both physically and mentally. I love to watch my body transform.

I respect all the bikini girls, but the reality is, it’s just not me. I enjoy lifting heavy. I enjoy destroying my upper body just as much as my lower body. I love to hit new PRs. I love with watch my body gain strength and size. A positive attitude is so important! I decided that the gym was going to be awesome today, and it was. 💪 Lifting felt strong, added an extra pullup on each set (reps are finally going up after time off) and this is my reward. @nespresso. Sweet, sweet coffee.·

I have only been doing front squats for a year.
My body likes them!!
Knees are rock solid.
They feel good 👍🏻
I enjoy the movement and the challenge of mastering a relatively new exercise for me.
Plus they gas me out which I enjoy.
I get a lot of reps...
It’s my coaches way of controlling me... 😂😂😂😂
I can’t go too heavy so I can’t do anything silly...

The lifting heavy addiction is very real.
We glorify the 1 rep max effort.
The magical personal best that feels so good!!
But too many of us sacrifice form and risk injury chasing this glorification.
I know I am guilty..
But with the guidance of my pro team I am learning to train smarter.
Longevity is 🔑!!!

10 reps at 32kgs.
Having never done heavy front squats with low reps before I have no number in my head of what my 1 rep max is.
Helps me psychologically 👍🏻

A PB can be any number.
Number of reps.
Number of sets.
Why does it have to be only weight..?
And all of the above can be variable depending on body weight and composition.
Gas in the tank.
State of mind.
Stress levels...
I am learning to listen to my body more.
