“Flight of the Terns” my Mother’s favorite photograph of mine - she liked the birds flying free over the beautiful ocean which was her favorite place to be like it is mine. Many of our homes had views of the Ocean and we often spent long lazy days at the beach with her wonderful picnics of grapes, cookies and tasty sandwiches. We would hold hands and jump the waves or walk the beach looking for seashells. Today would have been my Mothers Birthday and I’ve spent the morning looking for this photograph and remembering her. When I moved to Florida nine years ago she bought me my first camera and told me to get out and take pics of everything I saw! I’d come home and send them to her and she loved living vicariously through my eyes... she was far away, in Argentina and hadn’t seen the ocean for over 20 years. She never made it here to come and see me, I know she would have loved it! Very few people come to Florida and don’t fall in love with it in one way or another - it’s a special place! This photograph was also painted and sold at auction for a charity that relates to my very much loved islands - as in this picture - and it raised $2,500 for a great cause! My Mother knew this big fundraiser was coming up and asked me not to come see her but to help the charity be successful - she died four days before this event... I hope some of you will consider donating to Pinky’s #fightcancer fundraiser that I’m collaborating on with @andrewnaeger - the loss of a loved one has no words to describe it and I hope one day a cure will be found for this disease that has taken way too many special people out of our lives... thank you all for following my Florida adventures and for enjoying the joy I find in my birds and in nature!
