This is the orphan series by Andrew Cohen @cohen_andrew_l, as a contribution to our #VNPHOTO2017 project.
This series shows sweet and touching captures of orphans (some have been abandoned when just few months old), monks who take care of them and moment of their lunchtime at orphanages in #DaLat and #CanTho, #Vietnam. .
Andrew Cohen is professor of Asian Art History, chair of Art and Design at Monmouth University in New Jersey, US. Originally he used photography as an aid to document art historical artifacts for his research. Through the years, photography became an obsession for him. .
Intrigued by the rapid transformation of Vietnam - one of the fastest growing economies of the world - he has returned multiple times with his colleague - professor Mark Ludak - to photograph this country.
This orphan series is part of his project "Transition: Vietnam" that has been on exhibit at Monmouth University (from September to November) and now at Princeton Public Library, New Jersey.
