Purity of winter.
Sometimes we want life to be a constant fairground ride of thrill and excitement, we want relationships to always be Hollywood style romances and we want to be constant seekers of pleasure because we are afraid of feeling sad, afraid of silence and reflection. But some of the greatest creativity has come out of people living "a long winter ". Nearly everyone I know with depth to their life has learned that through some kind of suffering or hardship. Sometimes it's in the moments when we allow ourselves to appreciate the stillness and darkness of a winter season that we can learn to truly start living a steadfast life that endures the seasons. So if you feel sad today, don't rush away but pray, reflect, seek God and trust and know that life cannot always be one big rush of euphoria, but there's beauty in winter stillness.
