Swanning off into the sunset...
A really old pic, but one that seemed rather applicable somehow...
My youngest lad finished the last of his year 12 exams this morning, marking the end of a 15 (17 if I include the pre- and play-school days) year stint for our family in the public school system. And what a terrific journey that's been! 💛
We still have all the official stuff to go, but classes, exams, plays, and school in general... is finished. Done. Weeeeiiiiirrrrdddd! 😳
So weird that no. 2 son walked in the door this afternoon, dropped his bag, and said 'I genuinely don't know what to do now, Mum...' 🤷🏽♂️
I might have smiled at that... 😊 ...because, fortunately for him (as it was for his brother) whatever it is that he decides to do, the public school system has given him the choice and the chance and the opportunity to get out there and have a go.
I managed to miss sending a shout-out to all the teachers out there on World Teachers Day this year, so in lieu of that, on this rather significant day for me as a Mum, let me do here as I did on Facebook today and say, thank you. To all of you who are, plan to, or have engaged in the vocation of teaching young people, my applause. 👏👏👏 Also my admiration, and my gratitude. The good work you do is immeasurable ... the ripple effects of your commitment, impossible to quantify... but I can certainly attest to the results, when I chat to my lads, and all of their fantastic mates.
So, cheers to all of the teachers. In my humble opinion, you have the most important job in the whole wide world, and based on my personal experience and perspective, you are absolutely nailing it. Bravo.
