Yer a wizard, Harry.
Among the beautiful souls of Naples, I’ve also (apparently) bumped into a magician. Please notice my expression when he told me he had to activate my fortune keeper by whispering mystical words in Neapolitan and send all the negativity away from me.
Despite my skepticism and disillusion, I’m still turning over in my mind some things he said, that somehow felt like he had actually taken a glance on my soul for a brief second.
This is what I love doing when visiting new places, more than going to museums and exploring old ruins: I like talking to strangers in order to grasp the inner essence of the land they live in.
They might say things that don’t ring a bell to me or, like in this case, they might give me comfort and great memories to hold on to.
This folkloristic guy embodies old traditions, surreal beliefs and strange cults related to superstition that are still so modern and actual today. People cling to them because, as my lovely friend @giuri_ says “it’s better to believe and do these things, than avoid doing them and take the risk”.
And who cares if this guy is full of it?
He sells a story and a peculiar experience.
Isn’t that enough?
