One of the most difficult conducts to apply in the daily life is SATYA - the second Yama - conduit in relation with others.
SATYA means TRUTHFULNESS
Be true to your word, and let your word be true.
Be true to your word, and you will acquire the power of truth. Whatever you speak become so.
Patanjali’s Yoga sutra II.36
Speaking the truth requires courage and also requires the capacity to stand for what you believe to be true. * Do you think bending the truth is permitted when the welfare of someone else requires it? (white lies)? * We might think that bending the reality a bit might help, but are we conscious of the energy we bring in our life by distorting reality? * Have you ever been in a situation when telling the truth would be hurtful or harmful to someone?
Many people tell small lies in order to protect their loved ones, sometimes we prefer to dwell in a perfect imaginary world than confronting a not so pleasant reality.
SATYA actually helps us to become mature spiritually and to help ourselves and others to evolve, by speaking the truth.
