This was taken last Thursday afternoon while out with James . We were driving back down the Snake Pass as spotted these trees catching the afternoon light so we just had to stop and go back to photograph them. It was shot with my 12-100mm lens rather than my usual Ultra Wide angle as I wanted to compress the perspective and isolate the trees against the heather clad hills. I decided on a vertical image using the full extent of my zoom choosing to capture the 2 trees which contrasted nicely against the diagonal angles of the recessing hills creating an almost abstract image.(Olympus EM-1 mkii 12-100mm f/4 pro 1/100 f/6.3 @ 100mm Kase K6 holder + X -Eye polarising filter )#ig_peakdistrict #peakdistrictnationalpark #PeakDistrict #olympusuk #osmaps #visitpeakdistrict #ukpotd #kasefilters #landscapephotography #ig_olympus_landscapes #thisisengland #derbyshire #olympuscamera #thelensbible #pocket_UK #photocrowd #explore_countryside_

We didn't really get a sunset from our trip up to Curbar Edge but this shot still stood out! We also saw a herd of 20-30 deer AND almost got murdered by cows so it wasn't a wasted trip after all! 🤣🐄

Unfortunately there wasn’t much going on inside this tunnel, so I settled for focusing on this little puddle and capturing a bit of a reflection

We got lost trying to find this location because we were too busy flying the drone :/ It's number 23 in the book. We got there with less than 10 minutes of light left so had to be very quick! It was a beautiful location even with a fairly boring clear sky #73in73 #landscape #sunset #peakdistrict #derbyshire #4louis #achingarms #uhnm #sunset🌅 #nature #countryside #ig_peakdistrict #gardomsedge #landscapephotography #ig_countryside #rocks #bluesky #goldenhour #visitpeakdistrict #england #nikon #grit #naturephotography #instagram #charity #blogger #vlog #jamesgrantphotography #challenge

One of the top things to see in Bakewell is the Monsal Trail. I’d never heard of it, but quickly realised it was something I was keen to do while researching our trip. The trail runs along 8.5 miles of a disused railway line, including a number of bridges and tunnels. The tunnels are dark, damp, cold, and very fun to cycle through!

I wish I could be doing more of this at the moment! #relax #getoutside #peakdistrict #ig_peakdistrict

With the great cloud cover last Thursday I ventured up to Curbar Edge to try and capture something more dramatic than blue skies and keep the heather photos coming.

I always struggle for compositions up on Curbar, so I was happy I found a millstone in such a good position. However, with the sun setting and showing on the horizon behind a thin bank of cloud, I was still struggling to find the shot. Unfortunately the sun had disappeared before I was set up so I waited and hoped for some afterglow, but the thickening cloud put paid to that.

Cressbrook Dale proved to be a lovely little walk. It was very picturesque and peaceful. The one thing that wasn't so pleasant was trekking in shorts passed these. My legs look like they've been through a shredder.

Unfortunately, I couldn't be in my favourite state of Oregon for the total solar eclipse today. Instead, here's a photo of the partial eclipse here in England a couple years ago. Taken from Mam Tor, Peak District.
