It was one of those days you propably would'nt start high alpine hike. The clouds, the wind and the mountains where telling: Don't! But after driving a few hours we got pretty eagerly and were happy to arrive at the Tre Cime trailhead to finally get moving. So we started hiking knowing the weather would'nt be our best friend that evening. After about 45min into the trail at the ascent of the first ridge the wind got stronger and the clouds darker and darker. Everything kept telling: Stop! Don't go further! After 20 more minutes the view opened up into the next valley promising nothing good: a heavy storm front approaching us at fast speed! We already had out rain jackets on but since we saw lightning everywhere around us we had to find shelter. Luckily we could spot a cave in the rocks higher up the ridge. That cave turned out to be a bunker from the first world war. This place was just perfect to hide from the thunderstorm and at the same time it gave us the opportunity to watch this huge storm pushing through this amazing scenery of peaks, bizzare rocks, clouds and light. This shot was taken during the storm when the sun could push through a small break in the clouds for a few moments. I'll never forget this hike!
