It was a busy morning...
Today is cultural day in Dara's school.
I did not put her attire together because of my ill health.
We had to figure out a costume for her to wear this morning.
Look what we came up with.😁
Dara was very happy with her attire and she did a few dance steps for me😊
Problem solvedπŸ’ƒπŸ½πŸ˜πŸ˜Š.

Black Africans were imported as slaves in such numbers that in the last two decades of the 17th century, Blacks outnumbered Whites by a margin of two to one, and in the 18th century there were three Blacks for every one planter. Sugar cane dominated Barbados' economic growth, and the island's cash crop was at the top of the sugar industry until 1720.

Roles cultivating, harvesting, and processing sugarcane, the island's most important cash crop. Afro-Barbadian Slaves were involved in various activities and played multiple roles that includes raising livestock, fertilizing soil, growing provisional crops, maintaining plantation infrastructure, caregiving, and various other tasks. One notable soil management technique was intercropping, planting subsistence crops between the rows of cash crops which demanded the Afro-Barbadians skilled and experienced observations of growing conditions for efficient land use.

Most of the enslaved Africans brought to Barbados were from the #BightofBiafra, the #GoldCoast and the #BightofBenin. Other African slaves came from #CentralAfrica, #Senegambia, #WindwardCoast and #SierraLeone.
According to the 2012 Census, 80% of Barbados' population is Black and 16% is Mulatto (Black mixed with European).
Just like many other islands in the Caribbean, Cannabis remains illegal in Barbados and you can be fined for possessing it and jailed for cultivating it.

Q: What do you love most about being Nigerian?
A: I would say what I love most about being Nigerian is my culture. Definitely. That's probably clichΓ© and there's probably a bunch of people who answered the same, but for me... I think it's, you know, like the music... the food. And just the way I was brought up in the Nigerian culture. I really appreciate that. And that's what I like the best about being Nigerian. There isn't much to like in modern times as far as how the government works, so it's to have, you know, that rich culture to hold on to.

Nsibidi is an ancient system of communication through graphic symbols. It is indigenous to the Ejagham peoples of southwestern Cameroon πŸ‡¨πŸ‡² and southeastern Nigeria πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬. It is / has also been used by the Ibibio, Efik, and Igbo peoples of Nigeria. Interestingly, the β€˜child system’ of Nsibidi, so a later version of it, can be found in Cuba πŸ‡¨πŸ‡Ί(anaforuana )and Haiti πŸ‡πŸ‡Ή (veve). In both Cuba and Haiti, the symbols stand in strong relation to religious practices, rather than just communication. There are thousands of Nsibidi symbols but only about 500 have been recorded. #literandra #literandrafacts #nsibidi #nigeria #cameroon #efik #ibibio #igbo #ejagham #africa #tuesday #tuesdayknowledge
