Do you know ?
Before the 1st test flight of @lca.tejas in 2001 a major US military aircraft manufacturer on January 3, a day before the maiden flight of the Tejas sent a letter to then defence minister George Fernandes stating that "Please do not allow the first flight of the Light Combat Aircraft to take place. The aircraft has not been developed with adequate rigour, and safety aspects have not been fully looked into. It would be a catastrophe if you allow it to fly." Fernandes, with supreme confidence in Team LCA, ignored the cable. The following morning the homegrown fighter, flown by Wing Commander Rajiv Kothiyal, soared into the clear Bangalore sky. Fernandes told about the letter from the US only after the first flight was over
Till now our homegrown Desi Bird Tejas is flying flawlessly with more than 1000s of flying hours. All thanks to the dedicated engineer and workers who made this dream come true.
