Well guys, I have a fertility update, and I wish I had better news. We started the first round of IVF on August 28. Although there was never a guarantee, we were fairly confident it would work. The plan was to retrieve my eggs, fertilize them, and then have frozen embryos to use when we were ready. But my body didn't respond. My ovaries couldn't hear the message the follicle-stimulating drugs were sending. The follicles have to grow to a certain size before they can be retrieved, and mine weren't growing. So we stopped. Our first IVF cycle cancelled. Spirits crushed and thousands gone with nothing to show for it.
We took a break, and while still being monitored, saw that there had been unexpected follicle growth. Solomon, our fertility doctor, and I were hopeful about this new growth. We thought if we started IVF injections again, we could take advantage of that growth and get more, since the goal was still egg retrieval. So we started a second IVF cycle on October 5th. After 8 more days of injections, there was no new growth. I could see the disappointment all over my doctor's face. I left, and sat in my car sobbing, feeling helpless and angry. Our second IVF cycle has been cancelled, and we're left wondering if fertility treatments will ever work for us.
This is such a hard journey y'all, full of so much uncertainty. Solomon and I are devastated that we're in this situation, and that there's a chance we may never have children of our own.
At this point we're taking another break from fertility treatments for awhile. I'm going to take some time to try to get my immune system in a better state, with the hope that doing so will improve my fertility.
I'm also trying to find a balance between being optimistic and realistic. I've always struggled with a fear of the unknown, and not knowing if this will ever happen for us kills me.
But, this fight is not over, we have not given up hope, and we will continue to do what we can to better our chances. Thank you all for caring and following this journey. The comments and messages I've received have been so loving and encouraging. I am so grateful. If and when there are any new developments, I'll let you know. ❤️

THIS SKIRT FITS AGAIN 😭! It had gotten so tight I couldn't button it and I haven't tried it on in about 6 months because I've been too scared. I actually thought it wouldn't fit and was in the mood for some good old fashioned mood crushing self sabotage 😂 and decided to try it on, and was shocked to find that it fit. When it was too tight I was hitting the gym 6x week (complete with HIIT cardio and lifting), walking ~8 miles/day, eating a HCLF vegan diet, and just generally doing everything "right". But I was also stressed tf out and was eating foods my body didn't tolerate, but I thought it was normal to instantly bloat, have gas, diarrhea, stomach pain, etc. UM YA YOU DON'T HAVE TO LIVE LIKE THAT. Now I still go to the gym but the gym revolves around my life--my life doesn't revolve around the gym. If one week I have time to go 5x week then I do that. This month I've had time to go maybe 2x week. So I do that. Sometimes I lift, sometimes I do HIIT, sometimes I do a 25 min Pilates video on YouTube in my bedroom. I've tried incorporating more movement when I can remember to do so--if I'm studying all day I'll get up every hour or so and do 10 each of squats, side leg lifts, donkey kicks, push ups, and jump squats. No more craziness over the gym. I wanted to go today and felt like I "should" go today, but between laundry, cooking, homework, and work, I ran out of time. It's not even a big deal anymore, but this would have been THE END of the world before. Crazy how things change 🤷🏻‍♀️

Haven't posted a before and after in a while! With this move I got out of exercising everyday because of being on the road and having so much to do. I was so nervous that I might gain weight or start feeling crappy again. Thankfully I've gotten back into my daily routine and I'm still 48lbs down. Anxiety at night is coming back which is a sign I need to work on my adrenals a little more. I've cut out meat and upped my supplements. Can't go back to where I was. Nevaaaaa. 💪 here's to staying healthy. .

Most of my life I've been afraid. I've been afraid of other people's views of me, their judgments, how they perceive me, what they feel my motives are, how they truly see my heart. I've been afraid of doing things I love because I felt stupid, not good enough, unqualified or out of my league and feared that if I failed people would have something to really laugh at. I started college twice in my 20's and I never finished either one. Both were things I love, vet tech & floral design. But I just let other things come in the way of my dreams. And really it was a root of fear. These feelings stem from a LOT of past hurts & I see that, I'm working on it. And I'm overcoming it in so many ways. Before I started my blog I dealt with a lot of those feelings of not being good enough to provide recipes for other people and fearing that nobody would really even care. But after encouragement from a few people I just jumped in and did it and I am very proud of that! 🙌 And then came creating this E-Book for people and I never imagined that you guys would truly want what I can do. Honestly, it comes as a bit of a surprise that so many people are interested in the foods that I create! I am thankful for every one of you that support me and that show me love because you guys give me LIFE and you are helping me overcome my fear based insecurities. You are helping me be better. 🙏 Also, today I submitted photographs for an amateur photography contest at our local nature center and I feel very proud of the pictures I have taken! The lady said they were amazing! 📸 It's kind of strange because I'm so used to not following through with things that can put me out there, so these 3 things are SO big in my life and I did them all THIS year! 🎊 Fear is a liar and our mind gets in our way. Don't allow it! Step out and do what you love! It is such an amazing feeling. I'm so thankful for this journey. 💓🌲🌹🍂🍃

The first clip is kind of hard to get into but it really challenges your usual hip thrusts. The second move not only adds a bit of resistance to your regular deadlift, but also helps correct your technique and form. First, I sautéed kale in some ghee, then cooked it down more in beef bone broth (recipe on my blog). .

Once the broth was simmering, I added in three pastured egg yolks. Why just yolk?? I don't tolerate the white well. On the AIP, you remove eggs and reintroduce yolks first, and that's how I learned the yolks work for me and whites don't. All I do to separate it crack the egg over my hand and run it under water... YES it takes practice!

Then, simmer until the yolks are cooked and add green onion, lemon and salt... that's it!

I ate this with kraut and a pear on the side. So good! Now off to a coffee shop to get some work done 🙌

An afternoon snack consisting of the bits and pieces I found in the fridge.
I recently bought some rice paper rolls because I liked the idea of a quick and easy ‘wrap’ that wouldn’t make me feel heavy after eating it.
These certainly delivered and I’ll be making them lots now that I know how amazing they taste! So simple to chop up any salad you may have in the fridge into matchsticks and add a dipping sauce - in my case it was sweet chilli. My tummy is definitely satisfied now 👍🏻

Another Friday night spent at the gym. Finished off my cardio and had a dance party on the treadmill. I’m going into this weekend and week with a positive mindset. I’m keeping myself energized and pushing myself to do my best. The beginning of this week I may have struggled and been slightly down on myself but not anymore. We’re all human and have our moments but in those moments we have 2 options. We can either sulk about it and let it get us down or we can let ourselves feel but push on to what we know we deserve. It’s your choice. I know what I chose, what would you choose?

I literally tell myself daily that I'm not the kind of chick who would let my excuses win. And then I go and don't let 'em. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ For example, I could let any of these win: I'm on vacation, I had ice cream and margaritas and drank beer all day long, it's 10:00 pm, I have to get up earlyyy, what's one extra off day gonna hurt?😕😫 So basically, the usual real life excuses I hear people try to give me constantelyyyy!
If you're waiting for a perfect set of conditions to arise when you DONT have any events, weddings, trips, shitty eating days, early mornings.....ugh. You're gonna be waiting foreverrrr! ⌛️⌛️⌛️ If your fitness routine doesn't travel well or jive with real life situations like the ones I named....you need a new fitness routine!
Despite all that, I logged into my app, picked a 16 minute Tony Horton ark workout, and got it done. 🙌🏻👌🏼 Did it feel good?! Not really! But then neither does going to bed knowing you let your excuses win! 🤷🏼‍♀️👊🏼👊🏼 If you need a fitness routine that is doable even in imperfect (AKA real LIFE) situations, holler at me! 📲📲

THIS SKIRT FITS AGAIN 😭! It had gotten so tight I couldn't button it and I haven't tried it on in about 6 months because I've been too scared. CHICKEN AVOCADO BURGERS! 🥑🥑 These were delicious and sadly there were NO leftovers….I love leftovers so I don’t have to make lunch for the next day. We will definitely make these again and I can see these fitting nicely into our week night dinner routine. Here’s what I did: - 2 pounds of ground chicken
- 4 cloves of garlic
- 2 C of avocado (or 2 large avocados)
- 1 egg
- 1/3 of almond meal
- 1 & 1/3 C of spelt bread crumbs
- 1 C of red onions, chopped & sautéed
Chop up ½ of a red onion and sautéed it in coconut oil until the edges turn light brown. Set aside to cool. Combine all of the ingredients listed above in a bowl and mash together. For the avocado, I used pre-chopped, frozen avocado. It worked like a charm. Swipe left to see. Then you just pat together 6 to 8 patties and fire up the grill. I also got about 5 few mini ones out of the mix for my daughter (with out avocado because if she see’s anything green she runs in the other direction!). They are a little sticky on the grill but that’s unavoidable. Enjoy!! Recipe on Pintrest at “LaughingSpatula”…apparently this is her most popular recipe by far on her blog!!
