This is my friend Vaden Earle’s daughter. This is a real 8 yr long fight to get his adopted daughter Widlene to Canada. This country has seriously dropped the ball on this one!!! Please read and share.
March 21 was "International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination." I was going to leave it alone, I really was. Then I started reading statements by numerous Canadian politicians including the Prime Minister and Minister of Immigration.
Mandela lived a life where many of his rights were taken from him simply because of the color of his skin. He spent over 27 years in jail because he believed that all people ought to be equal.
Because of Racial Discrimination, Widlene has to duck when she see a police officer drive by. Because of Racial Discrimination, she lives in constant fear of deportation, violent persecution and sexual exploitation. Because of Racial Discrimination, she wasn't allowed to fill out paperwork in the Canadian Visa Application Center. Because of Racial Discrimination, she is a member of the most vulnerable people group on planet earth.
To Mr. Trudeau, Mr. Hussen and all Canadian MPs that would like to spend this day on your high horse. When you say "we must do everything we can to end Racial Discrimination," your hypocrisy resounds far louder than your mere words.
You have a piece of paper on your desk that you can sign today. You have an opportunity to be a part of the solution, so why are you choosing to be part of the problem? Until you address Widlene's situation with integrity, you have no right quoting Mr. Mandela.
