Do you ever do these? They are called hyperextensions (back extensions) and I do them 2-3x a week! They are great for your mid and lower back, your core, and even your glutes/hams! I often do them with a 10 or 25lb weight, or else I'll use resistance bands. I have a very thick lower back and I credit it to exercises like this! Heyhoooo ihr hübschen 🙋💞😊 meine aktuelle "winterform" 😁 (alias #Massephase ...falls man das so nennen darf wenn man nicht ganz so professionell unterwegs ist 😜) jedenfalls schön käsiger hautton am Start 😉 gestern hab ich ein Ganzkörpertraining mit nem guten Kumpel absolviert 😊 es gab #legpress #curlsforthegirls #Squats #Kreuzheben rudern #hyperextensions und ein #Bauchworkout 😊 war insgesamt ein kurzes knackiges Training. Heute gibt's lediglich eine kleine Bauchsession, da ich jetzt 4 Tage hintereinander trainiert habe und meinen #Muskeln heute etwas Ruhe gönne 😉 (Muskel wachsen ja bekanntlich in der Ruhephase 🤓) ansonsten muss ich zum Sommer hin dann wieder etwas Gewicht verlieren an Wasser und fett aber ich weiß ja wie es funktioniert von daher kein Grund zur Panik 😊 erstmal noch über #Weihnachten gainzzz zulegen 😁 hart trainieren und gut rein fressen #sameprocedureaseveryyear 😁

Vanmiddag weer rondje #sportschool gedaan 😊 Begonnen met 20 minuten #fietsen #exercisebike, daarna #krachttraining blauwe zaal, #rugspieren oefeningen en #legextension + #hipadduction / hipabduction. Dit keer zonder #rugband getraind, omdat ik tijdens de krachttraining in principe minder schokken hoef op te vangen. (Waar ik tijdens cardio-achtige oefeningen met hardlopen, springen e.d. weer wèl meer last van heb, dus dan heb ik hem wel meer nodig). Tijdens de #hyperextensions krijg ik na een aantal herhalingen juist wel weer meer last van #scoliose gerelateerde spierspanning rechtsonder in de rug (links natuurlijk weer niet), dus soms even letterlijk door de pijn heen bijten en alleen even pauzeren als de pijn echt te heftig wordt....en daarna weer doorgaan.... De #assistedpullup ging een stuk beter dan afgelopen keer, maar misschien kwam dat ook omdat ik de keer ervoor de #latpulldown had gedaan. Nu eerst de hyper extensions gedaan, dat scheelt dan toch weer enigszins “pauze” voor je armen. Ik kon nu in ieder geval de aantallen van mijn schema halen, dat was afgelopen keer wat lastiger. Vandaag weer in de blauwe zaal getraind @golds_gymnl. Aan de gang geweest met het #krachttraining schema voor mijn #rugspieren dat ik van Jorno @fitwithmullekes heb gekregen (#latpulldown, #compoundrow, #straightarmpulldown, #hyperextensions, #assistedpullup) en nog wat andere oefeningen, zoals hip adduction/abduction, leg extension, leg press, vertical chest, dat soort oefeningen. Omdat die apparaten ook gewoon in de blauwe zaal staan, hoefde ik daarvoor niet naar de oranje zaal, dus dat scheelt weer 😊. Ik ben echt enorm blij dat ik de stap gezet heb om naar de blauwe zaal te gaan. Ik had de laatste tijd steeds meer het gevoel dat ik in de oranje zaal niet echt progressie meer boekte, met name t.a.v. mijn rug (ivm #scoliose). Ik heb meer variaties in oefeningen nodig om mijn rug sterker te krijgen en die variatie vind ik onvoldoende in de oranje zaal. Ik hoop echt dat dit me verder gaat brengen. Het was wel een soort van drempeltje, die blauwe zaal, maar achteraf vraag ik me idd af waarom. Net als dat de #sportschool aanvankelijk een drempel was. Eind augustus 2014 woog ik 102,5 kg. In juni 2015 durfde ik pas de sportschool in toen ik zelf 18 kg was kwijt geraakt. Uiteindelijk verloor ik rond de 30 kg. Afgelopen jaar weer wat aangekomen, omdat ik niet full force kon trainen ivm #overtrained zijn. Herstel kostte me bijna een jaar! Nu ga ik verder met de volgende stap, next level, blauwe zaal. Het afgelopen jaar heeft mijn #doorzettingsvermogen niet aangetast. Ik spring wederom in het diepe om verder te komen. This is a great back finisher for both functionality and so really get a great pump at the end of a workout!

Muscles Used
🔴Hamstrings
🔴Glutes 🔵Spinal Erectors

The spinal erectors are the main focus on this exercise seeing that it’s at the end of back training. These muscles run from the base of your hips all the way up and tie your whole back together. If you want to create that 🎄Christmas Tree🎄 look from the back, then this is a perfect addition to your back training.


💥PROTOCOL💥
For me, this is strictly an exercise for function and to really finish everything off. 3-4 sets at about 12-15 reps should do the trick just fine. If they’re performed correctly when your back is ALREADY fatigued, there’s no need to add any additional weight. Trust me👌🏼

#MuscleMonday was all types of #fun today with the #MedicineBall - A guy showed me how to target the #abs and #obliques using #Hyperextensions which are usually for the #lowerback - I am ALL IN for new #exercises 🙌 because they shock the body. Also did #HIIT with #MedicineBallSlams - I felt like #Thor slamming #Mjlonir into the ground during battle. I did 4 variations: the first was with a 5kg (11lbs) ball. I did #lunges while slamming the ball from side to side. Then I did the more traditional slam by just stepping forward with each leg. This was with an 8kg (17lbs) ball. Third variation involved a full 360 windup (similar to a windmill dunk) before slamming the ball. All target the #core and are great! Didn't have enough room for the 4th but will share separately - #Cardio #FatBurn

The root of all strength and power comes from the core and a, largely, neglected muscle group of the core is the Spinal Erector group. Talk about core and everyone thinks of abdominals, then obliques.

If you're struggling or hit a plateau on your lifting go back to the roots; the core. The Spinal Erectors are equally as important as every other core muscle; disspell the imbalance in your core and watch your lifts go up.

Javier, here showing us that Hyperextensions are great place to start, hitting the Erectors but also the Glutes, Hamstrings and muscles of the upper back too. If you don't have a Roman Chair like this you can start on the floor; laying on your front and extend your spine being sure to keep your hips against the floor.
