Attending the @historicvineyardsociety tasting in SF today. It’s an opportunity to taste wines from 20+ wineries and over two dozen historical sites, from Cienega Valley Riesling to Contra Costa Carignan, Calistoga Petite Sirah and numerous eclectic field blends from California’s oldest vines. Posting some of my faves!
Loving this @carlislewinery ”Derivative” a blend of 55% Semillon, 35% The wine is a blend of fruit from Monte Rosso and Pagani Ranch in Sonoma County and Saitone Ranch in the Russian River Valley, 55% Semillon, 35% Muscadelle, 5% Palomino, 5% Colombard. Winemaker notes “A cool nose of lemon, white fig grapefruit pith and quinine is marked by a hint of lanolin. On the palate, medium-full bodied with lemon, quinine and grapefruit persistant on the mineral laden finish.
