Hello fellow Yogis. It’s @robertsturman here with your weekend @yogajournal guest post. Today I’d like to celebrate a yoga teacher I met by chance across the globe.
I crossed paths with a yogi 10,000 miles from my home, where she quietly and humbly taught at a yoga studio within a few bungalows of where I was staying on the Arabian Sea. She was immensely kind, present, and at peace. She happened to be reading Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse — the book that I read as an adolescent, which would forever change and inspire my life. We became friends and I was on the verge of getting sick, after a few weeks of hard traveling through foreign lands. We sat on the beach that day and she had brought me medicine, bought me a coconut and a pot of healing tea. When I began to feel better, I insisted we create some art together because the conditions were aligned for perfection. I don’t think she knew my work, which made it all so much more enchanting.
I meet yoga teachers, here and there, around the globe, who are deeply devoted yogis, true teachers, true friends, and what I would call true #influencers. They are out there egoless, doing their work, enjoying their days, and lighting up the world.
