Today I was challenged with 2 broken ignition keys - but grateful I was parked in a shopping center with food and coffee, vs a desolate park with no cell phone reception or people in sight. For a while it seemed as though I’d be stuck in LA for a week or so, as no mobile locksmiths worked on bikes and Triumph told me my only option was to order new keys and wait for them to arrive. As I sat in Starbucks, calling over 20 locksmiths, I was really amazed by the kindness and eagerness of strangers to help me. From the simple gesture of a cup of tea, to offers to drive me 1.5hrs to a dealership, to letting me know I could camp in their back yard for a week and have my bike towed to their driveway. It was nice to see humans being kind!
6 hours later- a magician of a locksmith was able to use the broken key pieces, cut a new key, and attach it to the old fob. 🎉. I couldn’t thank him enough!!
Back on the road I still had time to ride the infamous Angeles Crest Highway, run on the PCT to the summit of Mt Baden-Powell and ride to Joshua Tree National Park before the sun went down.
Another great day!!
