A view looking west along Wall Street in 1921. On the left is the New York Stock Exchange, constructed in 1903. Next to it is the now-demolished Wilks Building, completed in 1890 and torn down in 1920. On the right stands a statue of George Washington. It was on this spot, on April 30, 1789, that he took his oath of office to become the first president of the United States.
