So I’ve been super duper quiet recently. Mainly because a new year at uni means a new project has begun and it has taken me a while to get my head around what it is I want to make and what I want to produce by the end of my final year.
I have spent the week away so that I can go out and make some pieces in the location. Going into a space with an open mind, and allowing the location to inform my pieces, has enabled me to rid that “start of year making anxiety” that seems to hit me at the start of every project.
However, I can happily say that the creativity is flowing once more and I am extremely eager to get stuck into making again! Sometimes you just need some time out to be able to collect together your thoughts and to refocus your intentions.
Here is a photograph I took mid-making whilst in the location. This piece eventually ended up in the stream as a thank you gift to this landscape for allowing me to absorb its beauty and make in it’s space, returning this natural ceramic material to the earth.
