Here's a wee cheeky #facetofacefriday
The before picture was taken from my second ever Sunday Confessions, about 20lbs down from my highest weight... The after is from tonight, OVER 50lbs DOWN!!! I am also nearly at a point where I will be lighter than I have been in quite a few years and it feels freakin INCREDIBLE!
If there is one thing this journey has taught me... it is to NEVER GIVE UP! Anything worth doing is going to be difficult. You are probably going to think you can't do it... I do. ALL THE TIME. 99% of people I work with see faster fat loss when they cut out alcohol. Thatโ€™s simply because theyโ€™re taking in less calories via the drinks and via the drunk munchies.

Is quitting alcohol a viable solution for you? Can you stick to it long term? For some it is, and for some itโ€™s not. Iโ€™ve tried and failed. Red wine wasnโ€™t invented for nothing.

So you can have SOME drinks and not stall your progress. Just make sure the calories in the alcohol are accounted for. Try to be smart about it and be aware of the calories youโ€™re taking in.

If you count macros, you can take away from your fat or carb allotment. Divide the calories in the drink by 4 and thatโ€™ll give you the number of grams of carbs to take away from your allotment. Divide by 9 and thatโ€™ll tell you the number of grams of fat to take away from your fat allotment.

However, @thealanaragon suggests itโ€™s a worse choice to take away from your fat allotment because dietary fat is essential for functions that contribute to a better physique. So in most cases, take away from your carb allotment.

How does this play out if youโ€™re having drinks at some point? Keep your diet lower in carbs throughout the day by filling up on lean proteins and fibrous vegetables, and saving your carbs for your drinks.

Since my article in the daily mail I've had a few questions about how I lost weight, so I thought I'd answer them all here. Of course, this is how I lost the weight and everyone is different. I'm no way qualified in the health industry but here is some friendly advice if you're seeking to lose weight too.. ๐Ÿ˜Š

1๏ธโƒฃ Tracking food - I use MyFitnessPal. At the end of the day, weight loss is all about being in a calorie deficit. You're not going to lose weight unless your body expends more energy than what it has. I find weighing out food useful so you can either have more (or less) of the food and know the calorific content and educate yourself a bit more.

2๏ธโƒฃ Calculate your TDEE. Google TDEE calculators and find your TDEE. Here you can workout your cutting, maintenance or bulking calories easy. I like to use a few and make an average.

3๏ธโƒฃ Weight lifting. Did you know having more muscle requires your body to use more energy? Some people have said to me shall do cardio to lose the fat before I build muscle? NO! Get straight to it ๐Ÿ‘Building muscle WILL burn fat and increase your metabolic rate - if you're working hard and being consistent.

4๏ธโƒฃ Drink water. Did you know sometimes when you feel hungry you're actually thirsty? ๐Ÿ’ฆ I drink around 3-4L water daily and see health benefits as well as benefits to my body and skin โœจ

5๏ธโƒฃ LISS and HIIT. Some days it's therapeutic to spend 30 mins doing cardio, some days it's not. Mix up your sessions by doing quick HIIT and LISS. Makes it fun and less tedious in the long run.

6๏ธโƒฃ Veggies. Bulk out your meals with veggies! There low calorie and so volumous. I eat 99% veggie based meals now as they're 200-300 calories for huge portions.. can't go wrong with that ๐ŸŒฝ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ… (Which means more calories for snacks)

7๏ธโƒฃ CARBS. EAT CARBS. EAT LOTS OF THEM. Carbs are required for energy (so you'll do BETTER in the gym) and brain function - without them your performance will lack. I eat 250-300g A DAY as I follow a 99% veggie diet and still continue to have 'definition'. Don't be afraid.. carbs are a best friend ๐Ÿž

Here's my shrimp sauce for this week, will be having it with rice or spaghetti for lunch. Plan to alternate with eba and okra for lunch. Cornflakes, milk and apple for breakfast, alternating with bread and egg with veggies. Dinner will be as the spirit leads๐Ÿ˜„

I don't know where this one came from originally, but I heard it from @syattfitness first (follow him!). I think understanding this could really help you.

There was a time when fat was desired. It meant status. You had food, the means and access to have it -- and too much if you wanted.

Now food is more widely available and the stuff that makes you want to eat more, and move less, is also the cheapest.

Getting fat has never been easier for a much wider piece of the population.

Fat is nothing but energy savings. This used to be great when food became less available. The body would use fat for energy when calories weren't as available.

Your fat is a bank account. You eat too much -- more than your body needs -- and it saves it for later.

You lose it when the body needs to "spend" it when calories (or "income") goes down.

Nature used to decide when food became less available, now it's always there.

That's all it is, and I hope if you didn't understand this before, or ever look at it this way, the mindset shift helps you move forward with better clarity.

After a long day at work...I came home tired, a bit cranky and ready to just eat whatever was in my way...especially after coming home to all the kids, still awake at 8:40.
So after getting Kara to sleep, I checked in with my virtual fit club and saw their answers to my question about their personal victories for this week....and I promptly regained the resolve to stick to MY plan, and not binge-out on junk! (Because if they are crushing their goals...I need to, too!!) Here are just a few examples of our week 1 victories: "I got all 7 workouts done this week for the very first time" "I didn't cheat on my meal plan (or myself" "I'm already feeling better after just the first week". 1. Buy pre-cooked chicken breast or fish from the deli section.

2. Choose canned tuna for quick meals.

3. Buy pre-cut vegetables. (Just make sure nothing is added to it!).

4. Hard-boil several eggs at once for quick, high-protein snacks or to add to salads. Tips on how to cook perfect hard-boiled eggs. Bake them for 30 minutes on 350.

5. Bake all of your sweet potatoes at once or buy the steamer bag.
.
6. Pre-cook enough quinoa or brown rice for the week.
.
7. Chop all carrots, cucumber, bell peppers, etc. at once for healthy snacks and ready toppings for salads.
.
8. Mornings can be hectic. Have your breakfast ready to go by prepping a large batch of oatmeal or simple egg cups.

9. Stock up on berries or fruits that donโ€™t need to be cut like apples, oranges, and bananas.
