The other day, Dexter was at the window star-watching or whatnot, when I heard a loud scuffling and scratching noise along with a quieter bang followed by a howl and hissing. I rushed over to see if Dexter had hurt himself, but he was just pacing frantically in front of the window. Disconsolate and frightened he would not stop hissing and I was not allowed to touch him or the window. I tried to see if anything or anyone was outside who may have spooked him, but there was nothing there. Mind you it was very dark. For quite some time, he would not stop worriedly looking out the window, and then back at me. When he finally calmed down, he mewed like this for 10-15 minutes out the window. I am concerned it was another cat from the neighbourhood, potentially the one across the street, or an animal that scared him. Dexter is an extremely calm cat and I have very rarely (maybe twice) seen him hiss or howl; I have never seen him this way or heard him meow/talk like this. I was wondering if this meow is a scared meow or if he was just talking? If any of you have any ideas about this or suggestions about disputes with neighbourhood pets (should that be the case) I'd love to know thank you!❤️overall, I just hope this doesn't happen again. I went over his enclosure again to ensure there were no ins or outs besides our access points. But I'm worried still if he's out there alone and this happens again. Whatever it was.. for now, we will stick to daytime adventures.
