Do you collect memorable or just down right beautiful bottles? I do! 🍾
As interesting, memorable and beautiful go this is the gem in my collection! It was a gift many years ago, to be drunk, when we finally bought our first child home from the hospital! So it has memories definitely! Though unfortunately I can’t speak to the wine, I was exhausted, elated and bloody terrified as I savoured (no sorry, gulped) it! But since that day it’s sat in my kitchen to be admired by all who see it.
The bottle and wine was a collaboration between fashion designer Christian Audigier and Montpeyroux Estates in the Languedoc region. It was a rose, and I remember it was nice but that’s all I can tell you to the wine! The artwork though goes further! Christian Audigier licensed works from Don Ed Hardy, a world famous tattoo artist with a BA in fine arts from San Francisco Art Institute who also studied under Horihide, the unbelievable Japanese classical tattoo master. It was as a result of this study that Ed Hardy became famous for combining classic Japanese tattoo art with traditional American Sailor Jerry tattoos. Whatever the history I think we can all agree this is a stunning bottle! 🥂
It was asked a few weeks back on this feed whether wine was art?! I agreed and said yes it is, and as I look at more and more design conscious wines, using known and unknown artists, I’d say not only is the wine art but so is the bottle, hang on to it! You never know when it might be worth a pretty penny!!! Cheers! I’ll be back to posting notes when this flu has passed and I can taste wine again!!!! 🍷
