Post from yesterday 💚
Today marks the one year Angelversary for Hollis Doherty. Hollis was the most precious 7 year old boy who bravely battled DIPG in 2016. He was diagnosed on March 29, 2016 after having several severe headaches. Hollis lived in Phoenix, Arizona with his parents and older brother Rhett. Hollis liked to play with Legos and loved spending time with his brother. He also loved to read, but was an athletic boy as well. He liked playing sports and watching them too. He loved basketball, football, and baseball.
Hollis was symptom free for almost 9 months. He received radiation and also flew to Germany for 7 rounds of immunotherapy. He chose to go to Hawaii for his Make-A-Wish trip. Hollis began to have some headaches and vomiting at the close of 2016 and start of 2017. He was taken to the hospital and was acting himself prior 15 minutes prior to passing away on January 2, 2017.
Hollis managed to not have to experience most of the typical DIPG progression before his death, which his family was thankful for, though his fight was still not okay, childhood cancer must end. They miss him very much but they also know he is with God. The family generously donated his tumor to research.
