Results!!! Very very happy. More work to do and a lot more tuning still but heres my inital findings and a bit of an explanation of the purpose of this whole thing.
This is a stab from 4000rpm in 3rd gear.
In the graph the yellow line is whats of main interest. It is the boost that my turbo is putting out. The red dotted line is what % the vgt is closed. 0% = fully open. The light blue is the exhaust pressure ratio (PR) across my turbine. And finally the white dotted line is the throttle.
Without my controller the yellow line is sluggish and takes a loooong time to spool up over ~15psi...but once it does its like an on off switch. If you floor the throttle at 2000 rpm it can (and will) take until 6000rpm to spool up. Its got a 24cm2 exhaust housing or rather a 1.85AR. So stupidly big housing for a 2L will give slow slow spool up.
Now WITH my controller (and it's half ass dialed in so it will only get better) the response is VERY noticable.
In the graph: I go full throttle at 4000 RPM, Exh PR starts climbing, controller reacts and starts opening VGT, boost climbs contoller maintains the target PR within 11%, by 4800 RPM boost is at target and Exh PR is also on target and VGT is at 12% and falling. At 5000 RPM VGT is fully open and the turbo is ready to scream to 10000rpm. Also the light blue dotted line is reasonably flat the entire way and hovers right at the Target PR.
A 5K rpm power band is substantial and at a torque of 400-450 ft lbs its gonna pull hard all the way. For comparison my F150 with a 5L engine puts out 380 ft lbs.
I have more work to do with even better results expected. Curently its spooling in about 0.4 to 2.1s depending on gear. But almost always by 4500-4800 RPM its over 27 lbs of boost. So so fun. I am sure i cant get that down another 500 RPM.
One unexpected result... I am getting ~2 more psi of boost at the exact same wastegate settings. Gotta think on that one.
