Hōkūleʻa came home this morning. Plenty chicken skin moments — from the moment it sailed in and everyone chanted, to when Buffalo Keaulana and Nainoa Thompson stepped off the waʻa, to when Kamanaʻopono Crabbe did oli protocol to greet the Hōkūleʻa and her crew. There were 50,000 of us waiting at Magic Island and in the water patiently (and eh, they came on Hawaiian time too!) but the wait was worth it. Was just waiting for someone to sing "Ka huliau ʻana ʻēa..." Mahalo @pua_o for getting me up close near the dock!
