I’d like to introduce you to Hobo Dan. I met Dan almost 4 yrs ago when I was out of town bidding a job. Dan has been homeless for about 5 years, hitchhiking around the country, living off of his $700/month social security, sleeping under bridges or wherever he can find a place to lay his head. Dan often runs out of money and will try to pick up work when he falls short—but he never panhandles. I offered to put him to work if he made it to my hometown, which he did a week later. Dan has been coming back once or twice a year ever since. He just turned 73. I’ve had Dan staying in my shop for a couple months, and he will probably stay for the winter. He is entertaining to have around and I enjoy his friendship. When Dan gets back on the road in the spring, if you see him on the streets, buy him a beer and the dude will entertain you with all kinds of stories and jokes!
