One of my favourite teachers always began his class with a closed-eye meditation, followed by a gentle seated stretch. When I step on my mat, as if my body is on auto-pilot, I almost always begin my practice this way, before I start (free)flowing. I love that it gives my daily practice some routine and structure, something I crave as the nature of my job lacks, and gives me a sense of stability in my yoga journey. 🌿
