"Love your enemies and pray for those who hurt you...." Today is Day 4 of praying through passages of servanthood. Below is today's prayer. We'd love for you to join us in speaking it into your day. Though illustrated here, you can join in on the Scripture reading using the Olive Tree Bible App, choosing "14 Days on Serving." (Link in our bio to get their free app)
Prayer from Matthew 5:38-6:4 //
“Lord, change my perception of justice.
Open my eyes to see that it is not my fight to win,
My job to retaliate,
My truth to get across,
Or my power to authorize.
It is Yours and only Yours.
You are the God of justice and the Lord who takes vengeance.
When someone opposes me, in humility may I respond.
When someone hurts me, in grace may I respond,
And when someone begs of me, in compassion may I respond.
For my level of worth is not dependent
On their needs, their anger, or their actions, or on their thoughts.
My level of worth is given from You, Father,
Who now calls me to extend that grace to all.
I lift up those who hurt others because they are hurt,
Those who seek to break because they feel broken,
And those whose create suffering because of their suffering.
Allow me to see them as souls,
Needy, searching, and wanting
Jesus, make me holy as You are holy.
A righteousness that is not self-seeking,
But one of humility and meekness.
Give me opportunities today too secretly bless,
Freely extend and submit,
And gracefully welcome all those around me.
For Your glory, Amen."
