Celej život se člověk o něčem učí, o něčem strašně neurčitým a abstraktním, něčem, co větsina lidí absolvuje jenom v nejnutnější míře.

Also on this historic day of September 3, 1939, the Allied countries of France and Great Britain declared war on Nazi Germany following the aftermath invasion of Poland two days ago.
This marked the beginning of World War II because Hitler was warned that if he invaded Poland, the British and the French would go to war with Germany.

On this historic day of September 1, World War II began by the Invasion of Poland in 1939. The Invasion of Poland was a joint invasion made by Germany, the Soviet Union, the Free City of Danzig and Slovak Republic that marked the beginning of World War II.
First, the German Invasion took place on September 1, 1939 one week after the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Then, the Soviets attacked on September 16 from the East, after ceasing hostilities with the Japanese on signing the Molotov-Tōgō agreement.
Once the campaign was over on October 6, both the Germans and the Soviets divided Poland under the terms of the German-Soviet Frontier Treaty.

Just finished the book, Freddie Mercury, A Life In His Own Words. It's a collection of interviews with him put together in a somewhat chronological order. It's actually really amazing when you get used to the small paragraphs. It literally is his own word, no interpretation, that's up to you. Just as I imagine Mercury intended it.

The Army of Northern Virginia was the primary military force of the Confederacy in the Eastern Theater of the Civil War. It was first organized on June 20, 1861 it previously named the Confederate Army of the Potomac.

More units from the Army of the Northwest were also added on March 14 and May 17, 1862. By that time, the Confederate Army of the Potomac was now called the Army of Northern Virginia.
The four famous commanders of the Army of Northern Virginia were Generals Brigadier General PGT Beauregard, General Joseph E. Johnston, Major General GW Smith, temporary and General Robert E. Lee, who was the final commander.

The Texas Consultation had served as a provisional government of Mexican Texas during the Texas War for Independence from November of 1835 to March 1836.
In 1835, as tensions rose in Texas, Mexican Federalists began to oppose the increasing of Mexican centralist policies of the Mexican government. By the summer of 1835, Texians elected delegates for a political convention to be held in Gonzales on mid October. But before the convention was held, settlers took up arms against Mexican troops at the Battle of Gonzales.
So the convention was postponed and held until November 1, 1835 because delegates joined the newly volunteer Texas Army to launch a attack on the Mexican garrison of San Antonio de Bexar. By November 3, a querom was reached and delegates passed a resolution to define why Texians were fighting for.

A militia is a army or military organization of nonprofessional soldiers, citizens of a nation or subjects of the state, who are called upon for military service in the time of need.
Generally, a militia is unable to hold ground against regular troops, so militia units are used for aiding regular army troops by skirmishing, holding fortifications and irregular warfare, instead of offensive campaigns with regular troops.

Krag-Jørgensen was a repeating bolt action rifle that was designed by Norwegians Ole Herman Johannes Krag and Erik Jørgensen in the late 20th century. It was adopted as a standard arm by Denmark, the United States and Norway. About 300 were delivered to Boer forces of the South African Republic.
By the early 1890’s, the United States was looking for a rifle to replace the 1873 Springfield trapdoor rifle. In 1892, a competition was held comparing fifty three rifle designs including the Lee, Krag, Mannlicher, Mauser and Schmidt-Rubin. The testing trials were being held at Governors Island, New York but the finalists were all foreign manufacturers-the Krag, Lee and the Mauser.
The contract was awarded to the Krag design in August of 1892, it initially producted as a deferred result of protests from domestic inventors and arms manufacturers.
