What is Qigong?
Simply put, it is a well-being practice. It often involves moving or stationary postures, breathing techniques, self-massage, and mental focus to promote better health and overall well-being. Qigong (often pronounced Chee Gung) means “energy cultivation practice”—it helps a person to better produce and manage their overall energy and vitality! Originating thousands of years ago, Qigong is an Eastern practice that is similar to Yoga and Tai Chi in that it includes the importance of posture, breathing, and focused intention to promote better health and wellness. Benefits of Qigong practice include improved energy; elevated mood; better sleep, digestion, and breathing; less stress; building strength, balance, and mind; lower blood pressure; improved immune system and metabolism; and an overall enhanced quality of life.
