And what are these you might ask!? We have been working on a selection of starch polishes here. These little blossoms are all pre measured to go with our starch powders. This is the first, and it is white wax.
So, what's a polish? Polishes are waxes or fats, sometimes both that are melted into a clear starch while it's being cooked. These polishes help the iron glide a bit better, give a bit of a glossy sheen, and even provide a bit of waterproofing which helps deter stains. Recipes prior to the 1880s and 90s lump glosses and polishes into the same category. I have chosen the later terminology to avoid confusion as you can use both. For example a Polish Blossom may be added to the Gloss Best Starch.
