Hip flexors might need to be trained as opposed to stretched 🤔 I think we all have been guilty of automatically stretching the hip flexors base on the "tightness" we feel. However, sometimes if you just diaphragmatically breathe (for a specific amount of time) you might experience less tightness afterwards 🤔 Muscle length doesn't change that quickly if it was truly "shorten". So, I have been recently testing the strength/recruitment of the hip flexors on patients and have noticed a weakness under load. You have to train the hip flexors in order handle the load you put on them with certain movements/lifts, such as, the bottom of the squat. Earlier this week, we posted a #video of a #girl who came to use with #chronic #neck # stress / #pain and #headaches. The video shows her with #unstable #hips marching in place showing how much her #head / #neck position moved when she would use her hips. As a continuation of that #post, I wanted to show the before/after photos and talk about what we did.

The video shows she’s missing some significant #pelvic function, and the #photos show her #shoulders completely different heights. After several #tests, we determined that her shoulders were #unbalanced, as a response to her hip dysfunction. Her shoulders, were compensating, for dysfunctional hips.

Restore function in the hips, and the shoulders would level out. -
Exercise #1 :To start, we had her lay on her back, legs over a chair, so her hips and knees were are 90 degree angle..like the photo in the slideshow. Lay here for 5 min. Is there a hip heavier on the ground than the other? Leave a comment below on what you find!

Exercise #2 : Stay in the same position, and place a pillow between your knees, do 60 slow, smooth, squeezes with your knees in on the pillow. Close your eyes. Make sure each leg is working the same. -

These were the first 2 positions, out of  5 total exercises we showed her that restored function in her pelvis, balanced out her shoulders, and allowed her to stand up without pain!

This is a great preparation for half or full lotus - really stretches out the hips and your kitchen worktop is the ideal support....the idea is to get alignment between hip and knee on the lifted leg and also ensure proper alignment on the supporting leg - it's a lot harder than it looks!
Oh and breathe.....and bend forward into it for a stronger stretch of you are able.....there should be no pain anywhere especially not in the knee.....happy hipster weekend 🙆

HOW TO HIP HINGE?

Hip hinge helps in distributing stress over back and hips to perform daily activities easily.
The best way to do a hip hinge is to keep the spine neutral.
Take a stick and hold it behind your neck and lower back. Adjust the spine so that stick is touching the upper and lower back.
Check yourself in the mirror and adjust the stick.
Don't worry if you get it wrong the first few times. Practice it and you'll be hip hinging.

しっかりやると引き締め効果大!👍✨

コツは
①仰向けに寝転び膝を曲げ、両手は床に置く
②足は肩幅からやや狭めに開く
③天井に向かって腰を上げる
④腰を上げた時にしっかりとお尻に力を入れる(何かを挟むイメージで)
⑤腰を曲げ過ぎず、肩から膝にかけて真っ直ぐになるようにする

しっかりと効果的にする為にも、腰を上げてから1 カウントほどキープするのが大事!😤☝️
あと、ちゃんとお尻を収縮出来てるか自分で確かめながら行うのをオススメします🙏
(ツンツンして上げて!🍑)

男も女も、たとえイケメンでも美女でも、だらしないお尻だと残念ですよね…
