My new morning ritual ☕️ ⠀⠀

Our first pose is the #Splits 🐒 .

We're probably starting with the ultimate hip opener, full splits, and I decided to lean back to really work into the hip and add a nice heart opener too 💗 .
.
If you're not fully down in your splits yet simply try your best and hopefully the rest of our poses will help you progress them.
My tip would be, rather than leaning forward to reach the floor, place a block under each hand so that you can keep your body upright and really work on opening your hips 😘 .

Feeling kinda feisty after doing a million horrible #hipopener poses (think frog, pigeon, lizard, malasana AHHH) and foam rolling 😫 tried #tortoisepose up against a wall today for day seven of #fallintoflexibility which I've never tried before! Couldn't nail it on the ground but did alright against the wall. Ran three easy miles today to have rested legs for tomorrow's #runhouston race tomorrow! I'm running the 5k please send good vibes! Still needing that offish offish sub 20 on a not short (the last was short) 3.1 course. If I don't get it, I'll die. #drama #butreally *

⚖️👑🤸🏻‍♀️ Day 2️⃣3️⃣ of #BalanceKingdom with @cyogalab ↪️ Leg behind the head or #EkaPadaSirsasana variant 🤸🏻‍♀️👑⚖️ First things first, if placing the leg behind the head is not happening yet, make sure you warm up your hips before hand (warm them up no matter what!) then sit down and pull one leg at a time, in towards the chest, like I’m doing in the pic. Try to find the contact between the big toe and the sternum, and keep externally rotating that hip, kneecap pointing straight out. You can lie on your back or lean against a wall if that’s more comfortable. Once there’s a lot of contact between those the foot and chest, you can start to send the leg over its shoulder, foot in front of the face, then continue to ‘pass’ it so the heel gets to the crown or can slide towards the back of the cranium. Feel free to use the hand at all times to make sure the leg stays in place (or make a loop with a strap and lace it around the foot and opposite shoulder), then start to work on the second one, also externally rotating its hip and bringing it into a seated Ardha Baddha Konasana (half a diamond shape). To tell you the truth, the hardest thing of all, is to be able to balance on the tip of the sacrum, once the hips are opened enough. It might seem like an immediate step up but I find it pretty challenging. Regardless of how far you get, make sure you keep the spine as straight as possible (rounding = falling) and look out, to secure the leg behind the head. I think more visual on this will help so, wait up for tomorrow’s post to see how to progress and approach it! #Hipopener day, here we go!! Mat by @livesankalpa

Sometimes we can be overwhelmed by the idea that we need to have it all, but we don't think about the timing. The universe is working in our behalf but this sometimes doesn't correspond with our idea of the timeline. Think about it as being guided to focus on different strengths at different times so each can grow and flourish. We need to go with the flow and be humble and surrender to the higher plan.

I felt like a dancer throughout this practice, doing movements that really challenged my muscles + my mind. remaining calm + soothing myself in moments I feel overwhelmed or off balance was the lesson here for me.
