THRILLED to see my design concept for a mother and her super adorable baby girl come into fruition! ❤️ They had to wear a purple-themed outfit to an upcoming event and we came up with this 👆🏽. What do you guys think?
Some things I take into account when designing for a toddler is, COMFORT. Seriously, I’ve encountered a tad too many of the little ones esp during Raya visiting, throwing tantrums, bawling, pulling at their baju because they were uncomfortable / sweating profusely / itching in their outfits for the sake of cuteness in this heat!
A buttonfront design here, has a slit in the centre which offers freedom of movement to the child. Although the mom requested for an exact copy of her design for her daughter, I suggest using smaller laces on a toddler. It’s all about proportion. (Don’t worry, I will guide you along!) An all over beading on a child’s abaya is to me, a 50-50 option. I do agree it’s pretty but if your child is fidgety, likes to “pick-pick” stuffs on her clothes and put it in their mouths or the type that likes to “panjat pokok” 😱 then, dear God, please do not choose an all over pearl beading for your child’s abaya.
Do you want your design to be “form over function” or “function over form”? __
