Oh hey #yyc! I thought I would take a minute to introduce myself to any beautiful new faces around here! I'm Chrystal Chau, a Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant, whole foods fanatic and bone broth maker! .

In 2016 I quit my part-time office job to be able to dedicate my time and energy towards something that never fails to make my heart full; nourishing the people. I started a bone broth company in memory of my mother & my grandmother and often think back to the fond memories I have of Grandma making me delicious bone broth soup every time I would visit. .

My passion was intensified when my mom was sick with cancer - I remember having meals with her at the hospital, which usually included a beef broth- filled with artificial colours, flavours, msg, preservatives and sodium; poison to a body that is living with disease. .

Food awareness was not a major concern or priority from what I can remember of that time. Fortunately, it is now, and it's become my hope that people will love themselves and their families enough to start to make conscious, nurturing, and balanced decisions when it comes to food... because your health matters. You matter. ​

I recently had to cancel my yoga studio membership to save our cars some wear and tear (3k in expenses this month and the studio added an extra 120miles a week) and tighten up my budget. 😔 To say I'm bummed is a pretty big understatement.

So here's my solution, because I cannot stand most instructional videos: I downloaded a bunch of flow options from Pinterest and I have a few books and videos that I like. This morning I picked a couple of flows, kept them open on my phone, put on my wireless headphones with some vibey awesome music, and lit some candles and incense.

It definitely was no studio experience, but it was close! I followed some of the visual flow prompts, but mostly just followed my intuition and listened to my body. ☄ Perfect way to start my day. #newritual

In the beginning I was terrified to workout in front of him. I was scared of looking weak and let's be real, I do NOT look cute when I'm working out😅The thing is that I decided that I was unhappy with the weight that I had gained and I was tired of feeling insecure in my clothes. I didn't wanna wear those loose fitting shirts to cover my muffin top and I couldn't fit 2 of my shorts😡 I purchased my first challenge pack and made a commitment to becoming a healthier and happier version of myself. Brandon was very supportive of the new journey and decided to join me. 👫A year and a half later, I'm so glad I got out of my own head and pushed through my insecurities of working out in front of him.
Working out with him has brought us closer as a couple because we support and motivate each other to push to or limits. I'll cheer him on 🎉when I see him struggling and he'll do the same for me. He's definitely one of my favorite workout partners EVER!💪🏽Did I also mention that together we lost 35 pounds?! .

Coaching others has given me so much purpose in life!💕I LOVE what and do and the fact that I can do this PT from my living room love seat makes it THAT much better.☺️ My challengers and coaches mean the world🌎 to me and I will do whatever I can to make sure they get the best version of me-even if that means waking up at 5am on a Sunday.
Waking up early and staying in on the weekends aren't viewed as sacrifices these days but things that I want to do so that I can grow as a person, coach, leader, and friend👯

I spent my Friday night babysitting, working out🏋🏾‍♀️, journaling📒, listening to personal development😌, and helping a friend with her journey into a healthier lifestyle👯. I find it so crazy how much my life has changed since saying YES to joining an online wellness group back in July of last year!
Before then, hanging out with friends at bars or their parent's garages (LOL) and getting drunk were fun times for me.🎉Don't get me wrong, occasionally, I'll still have a drink or two 🍻with Brandon & some close friends but the intention to drink just to get drunk is no longer there.
I may be boring to some but my priorities have changed so much!☺️I'm in love with taking care of myself💪🏽🍓and I actually prefer to be in the company of people who can have fun being completely sober.
There's nothing wrong with my previous lifestyle I'm just in a different stage in my life where different things make me happy. Call it getting old, call it being boring or lame or whatevs. I'm doing me and that's all that matters.✌🏾️ #BEUNAPOLOGETICALLYYOU

Stop saying tomorrow because you're only promised today😄✌🏾️ It's finally friYAY! 🎉It's the weekend and it would be easy to say, "I've worked out everyday this week. I can just rest this weekend." 😏It would be easy to say, "I can just eat whatever junk food I want because I eat clean during the week."🍟🌯🍕 I used to say all those things but I choose to celebrate and love my body.💕 I'm THANKFUL🙏🏾 for all that it does and it's important to take care of myself. I don't over do my exercises. 😅I have my rlly impact and active recovery days because I know it's equally important to let my body rest, recover, and heal.😌 I choose to continue/try to maintain a balanced diet even on the weekends because I want to make sure I'm fueling up with real food 🍠🌱🍳🍎and not empty calories. If you know me, I LOVE my desserts. I always make sure to treat myself once in a while because why the heck not?!😍🍪 With cutting out refined sugar from my diet, I have had to make some adjustments like making my cookies and treats at home. It may take a little longer than just buying store bought ones but at least I can control what goes in my goodies.🤗 .

In the beginning, he would ask me why I workout then go off and play on his iPad.📱Slowly, he started to join me for the warm up and slowly after that, he started doing the whole 30 mins with me! 💪🏽 As soon as he's done with his homework, his first question is, "Aunty, can we workout now?" #proudauntymoment

Not sure if you've been following my squash adventures but both squashes came out amazing!
1️⃣Roasted butternut squash with olive oil, sea salt & pepper, with thyme. 450°F for 40-45mins
2️⃣Roasted pink banana squash with olive oil, sea salt & pepper, with rosemary. 350°F for about 45 mins. We cranked up the heat to 400°F for the last 15 mins.

I have a lot of people asking me what I do on a daily basis to maintain a balanced lifestyle.
When it comes to investing, time, energy, and money into your health, I always hear:
▪️That's too expensive
▪️I'm a stay at home mom and our family can't afford it
▪️Christmas is coming and we're trying to save money ▪️I can't workout at home, I need to physically have someone in front of me

What I've found is that not having enough money isn't he actual case at all, it's what we put VALUE on. Maintaining a healthy body & lifestyle is important to me. Spending $4 on a shake that will provide me superfoods, probiotics, probiotics, digestive enzymes, protein, fiber, & helps keep me full so that I don't snack at junk at work 🚫🍩🍰is WORTH the money.
A year & a half ago, my priorities were going out to bars, spending $6-7 per drink🍻, getting drunk, & waking up feeling tired, craving the greasiest fast food🍔🍟, & just overall junk. 😖It's where your priorities lie. If something has a high VALUE to you, you will do WHATEVER it takes to get it, right? That super cute dress that fits really well but is a little out of your price range. The new iPhoneX 📱or the super cute $200 purse 👜that will just go with everything you own. >>The real questions are what do you VALUE & what is your health WORTH?<< I know that I want to stay healthy and fuel my body with actual food.🍠🍊🍗. I know that when I EAT GOOD, I FEEL GOOD & taking preventative care is where my focus is. I don't want to have to take medications to offset high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes. 💊💉 So no, I don't feel that spending $4 on a shake or $13 a month on workout programs is expensive but that's MY own agenda. Everyone is different and we all have different opinions and values. It just boils down to what BS story you're telling yourself and if you're really willing to make a change.

Yep! Even coaches get carried away during the holiday season. 🍗🍠🍾I'm back to square one and I'm totally okay with it.

There's several reasons why: ⚡️I'm concerned about my LIFE - not a quick diet or short term exercise plan. ⚡️Waiting to start being "healthy" on 1/1 is like telling myself is okay to binge like crazy during the holidays and then be healthy cold turkey starting New Year's Day. I'm more concerned with maintaining a balanced meal and exercise plan than going from one extreme to the other.
⚡️A lot can happen in a month. Why would I want to put off taking care of my body? It's the only one I have!
⚡️Kickstarting a new program will get my metabolism rolling just in time for the holidays
⚡️Starting on 1/1 does not guarantee me any long term success. The time to start is now. Waiting for a start date usually means you're mentally preparing for a stop date. Again, I'm in it for the lifestyle, not yo-yo diet and exercise plan.

Yes, I'm that person that decided to wake up at 6am on my day off to journal and read some personal development.📝📚🐛 A little over a year ago, I decided to become an online wellness coach to help others become healthiest versions of themselves. This coaching journey actually taught me so much about myself!💕 In the past, I blamed events and situations for how my life had planned out. For instance, I constantly told myself that the weight that I gained after dating Brandon was "happy" weight👫 and it's okay since we were actively going to the gym. 🏋🏾‍♀️I mean, I worked out often enough so I could eat whatever I wanted, right? 🍣🍕🍪And because I wasn't losing weight, it was just in my genes to remain at that weight.
The thing is, deep down, I was really unhappy at how I had "let myself go." I've learned that just because people typically gain weight after dating someone doesn't mean that's what is supposed to happen. 🙅🏽It's not a scientific fact that once committed to someone, you'll gain 10+ pounds.
Coaching has taught and is continuing to teach me how to hold myself accountable. I'm developing a new and healthy relationship with food. I'm finding out what works for ME and what doesn't.⚖️ I'm learning to not jump at every diet fad that comes along but to really treat food as my fuel to nourish my body. 🍠🍳 Journey update: the self love that I've gained is the most valuable lesson I've learned so far.

I eliminated refined sugar from my diet and replaced it with raw sugar, honey, and a few other alternatives.🍯I know that the holidays are filled with goodies, treats, and amazing desserts but treating my body well is more important than an instant gratification of sweets. 🍪🍩🎂🍰🍦Besides, if I want any of those, I'll just make my own💁🏽 Anyway, my love and I are starting off our morning right with a dessert that pretty much acts like 7 salads. 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 Also, isn't his hair adorable?☺️
