Race report Vasaloppet cross country skiing:
I had initially decided not to consume carbohydrates during the course, because I am now fat-fed and want to use fat as fuel.
For breakfast in the morning, I drank my usual vitamins, MSM, Clorella, C vitamin, Salt and bulletproof coffee with MCT oil.
As a race day, I loaded with additional energy, in the form of a smoothie with blueberry, coconut milk, coconut cream, EAA, Protein, Ucan starch, yolk, Mct oil and Taurin.
Since I now, as I said, is fat adaptered, I can not eat what is served in the controls; blueberries soup, buns, protein bars, energy drinks etc. Had I eaten this I would have crashed energy and the stomach would not have managed to keep the ”food”. This meant that I could not eat any of the things served in the controls. I checked how many controls were available and replaced these with the corresponding bottles in my fluid belt. In the 3 miles there were two stops, and then I needed two bottles. These I filled with: protein, Ucan starch, salt, Mct oil, EAA, and Taurin.
I've made the mix according to #bengreenfield's tips and book the ”Low carb athlete”. At each stop I took a bottle and a mineral tablet. And lots of water of course.
When I arrived at the finishline, I had a good smoothie ready mixed, recipe from #highfatfitness, blueberry smoothie on coconut milk and coconut cream with glutamine in.
I felt very good and felt very strong throughout the competition. I had no swollen stomach either before the race or after, which I used to have before I loaded and ate carbohydrates.
Today, the day after, I feel very good, besides a little soreness😆. I am looking forward to Sunday's competition, and then it's 9 miles to be finished !! I will run the same layout as it worked super well !!
