My watermelon & cantaloupe breakfast for the #30daymelonchallenge.🍉 Loved every single bite - the super sweet cantaloupe was in competition with the super juicy watermelon! Who won?

Me!😜 Melons are just so darn good for our bodies. They are healing, nourishing, & cleansing at all levels. In fact, @medicalmedium recently posted that "Watermelon is a powerful liver cleansing food". Majority of the time, if the liver is happy, SO SO many bodily functions are happy, including the digestive system! Everything is so intricately connected inside our bodies - nobody truly knows & understands the true depth of it all. I'm trying to learn, bit by bit. In the meantime, let's get our melon on!!🍉

This was dinner last night. Oh it was so good. Went to 9 angels warung. A vegan/vegetarian buffet style restaurant. And they grow their own fruit and veggies! They have some good options for me. The greens looked very fresh so I went for the salad. Romaine, green beans, Roma tomatoes, cilantro, chayote squash, lime juice. Was incredible! I feel as a salad is a great way to end the day as it acts as a digestive broom. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area. Vlog will be up soon.

Very good local custardy durian here in Ubud. Only 40 k Rupiah for this one. Had a couple coconut before around 4pm yesterday. Yum yum. The season is almost here!

Does anyone else fantasize about #AcaiBowls? 🤪 I could literally eat them all day... breakfast, lunch AND dinner! However, I need balance and variety in my diet to function at my best. After over 8 years of experimenting with my #PlantBasedDiet, I now know what works best for me.

My body holds onto excess body fat when my #PlantBasedProtein calories average less than about 20%. If I eat fruit/carbs all day, I’m not satiated as long. I get hungrier faster and end up #OverEating to satisfy my #hunger. I was a #RawVegan for a couple years while running most days and had love handles.

I did #RawTil4, #HighCarbLowFat for a couple years too when only 5 to 10% of my calories came from #protein... most days closer to 5%. And under 5% of my calories came from fat. Even switching from running to resistance training, I didn’t shed the fat.

My particular problem area is my lower belly... maybe that has something to do with it. Most women gain weight in their thighs and booty. Unfortunately, that is not the case for me. It all goes to my mid-section and my face gets swollen.

After increasing my protein the last couple years and staying more consistent with my #WeightTraining, I started shedding fat and getting more toned, defined. You know it’s all about the beans! 😉

You may remember I eliminated #ProteinPowder from my breakfast several months ago, because playing with my diet is simply fun for me... like food science experiments. 🤗 Well, that made it difficult for me to keep my protein around 20% even while eating legumes regularly. That led to me over-eating again because my #breakfast wasn’t satiating enough - regardless of my fat calories. I ended up starving by dinner time and ate way too much in the evenings.

I went from a lean stomach to a bloated lower belly again - even primarily consuming organic, #WholeFoodPlantBased foods. So - I’ve now been including an #organic, one-ingredient #PeaProtein in my breakfast smoothies/ smoothie bowls again for about a month - and low and behold - my belly is flatter again.

First try at Instant Pot cream of broccoli 🥦 soup was a huge success! 🙌🏼 Used a recipe from ilovevegan.com as a base and tweaked it a bit, and it came out amazing! 😍 I’m starting to get the hang of cooking in the Instant Pot! 👌Definitely glad I added it to my collection of small kitchen electrics. 👍 I made mine without oil, and added some potatoes so I didn’t even need flour or milk to thicken it. So extra points for it being oil free and gluten free. 😋😋😋

This raw spinach soup (recipe from Anthony William, aka the Medical Medium) is so much better than I thought it was going to be! I actually crave it! Thanks Anthony! It feels so good to be on a low fat plant based diet. There is so much power in fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, and wild foods! After life-altering suffering and loads of misinformation, I have been healing so quickly ever since I finally came across Anthony’s books, podcasts, and livestreams!!

Sometimes you just want a simple nutritious meal full of calcium! What did you say? Calcium in my #vegan #stirfry ?

Yes did you know that there is heaps of #calcium in green leafy vegetables. And they also have #fibre and other vitamins such as Vit K2 (needed to stop you bruising) then why not I say.
Say no to cows breast milk! Why are u drinking that lactating fluid again? I will post soon regarding why I don't drink dairy and from a scientific point of view.

RECIPE
Chop finely bunch of kale
Grate carrots
Ginger grated
Peppers of your choice

Put them in a pan and add some balsamic vinegar to deglaze the pan. If it sticks further add a little bit of water. #nooilcooking
Add any spices of choice and viola you have a #delicious meal that took 10 minutes.

Cook 1/2 cup of rolled oats, 1 mushed banana, 1 grated Granny Smith apple, vanilla, cinnamon and ginger (generous sprinkling) and water for about 10min on the stove.
Top with berries, ground flaxseeds and more #ceyloncinnamon.

Many fad diets villianize grains, but grains are not the problem, the processing is. Grains are packed with protein, carbs, and fiber making them a healthy and great option on any diet. -
Eating grains that are cooked is great as they remain nutritious and healthy. Taking grains and stripping them down and making them into something else, removes many of the healthy aspects of the grain. Ideally you would eat 80% of your diet from the healthier preparation and 20% from the more processed form. -
A healthy dose of fiber is 25g per day or 15g of fiber per 1000 calories. Don’t fear grains but choose better options when you eat!
