In states that legalized medical marijuana, U.S. hospitals failed to see a predicted influx of pot smokers, but in an unexpected twist, they treated far fewer opioid users, a new study shows.
Hospitalization rates for opioid painkiller dependence and abuse dropped on average 23 percent in states after marijuana was permitted for medicinal purposes, the analysis found. Hospitalization rates for opioid overdoses dropped 13 percent on average.
Meanwhile, the opioid epidemic - sparked by a quadrupling since 1999 in sales of prescription painkillers such as Oxycontin and Vicodin - kills 91 Americans a day.
That's it! People are not so stupid. We are smarter than analysts think. We want to be happy and healthy. We don't need medical marijuana for fun and we don't want take opioid painkillers to feel okay in case we are allowed to take medical marijuana.
Many of us love marijuana. We are not dangerous or antisocial so recreational marijuana should be legalized in America. We will smoke it legally and we won't have to pretend that we are ill to buy medical marijuana when we actually need recreational marijuana.
Please make the world better. Make it reasonable. Legalize weed! We don’t want to be criminals, we don’t want to be idiots.
