Here’s what I was talking about in my story: the really mean idea I had for myself. Heavy deads (190lbs) for 10 reps and then I did a 1 minute jog at increasing inclines (started at 6% for round 1, then 8% then 10%) at 6.0mph. I did this for 3 rounds after I did some warm-up deads and a set of 3 at my 5 rep max (230lbs). I literally couldn’t get to 5 today— but that’s okay (it’s the last week before the chiro so my back felt real mad about heaviest of the heavy deads)! 6 days ago i lost a 325kg Hex-Bar pull at the lock-out due to my right strap going and i wont lie, i was fuming!! lol. The weight had felt so light and i nearly had it but these things happen......so today i had one objective on my mind and that was to make amends for it......i switched back to Figure 8's and as you can see here....there was no Round 2 of failure and certainly no issues with the grip as not only did i go heavier this week and pull 330kg, but i was able to hold it at the top for a couple of seconds 😆👊💪 Next week its back to conventional and continuing my journey towards 300+ on the straight bar 👊💪 #powerlifting #powerlifter #bodybuilding #powerbuilder #deadlifts #hexbar #positivemindset #personalbests #personaltrainer

Deadlift medley today after yoke went pretty smoothly. Definitely surprised I got as many reps as I did on the trap bar, especially since I tripped into the bar.

FARMERS WALKS.

One of the most underutilized movements by gym folk everywhere.
.
Seen as a strongman movement or maybe a grip movement yet it offers so much more.
.
A heavy set of farmer's walks targets every muscle fibre from my toes to my ears and everything in between, it ramps my heart rate up through the roof and I sweat like a pig!
.
Want big calves? Farmers walk
Want to get a bigger deadlift? Farmers walk
Want to lose weight? Farmers walk
.
A clip from last weekend. Around 140kg for 20 metres with a deadlift on each 5 metre mark just because. Then into the 180 which I did for 3 sets of 20m.

Trap/Hex bars don’t just have to be used for deadlifts. Four others exercises that can be used with this bar.

Deadstop Trap Bar Rows:
The neutral grip position can be more friendly on the shoulder and maybe better for those with shoulder issues. Like the Pendlay Row, you have the deadstop between reps, but the higher handles allow for keeping a flat back if you have flexibility/mobility issues.

Trap Bar Overhead Press:
Again, the neutral position maybe more friendly for the shoulders and it allows the elbows to naturally stay forward. With the handles down, like I’m doing, this becomes a much more unstable press and is similar to that of the hanging band technique if you don’t have bands.

Split Squats:
The trap bar are great for these as it forces you to stay in the hinged position at the top and stops you from coming right up. This keeps the glutes loaded. Again, the neutral position makes it easier to pack the shoulders.

Trap Bar T-Bar Row:
Doing these with the trap bar is great, the angle of the bar where I’m holding the bar, is perfect for rowing and the 45 degree angle of the bar allows for a really comfortable pull.
