This Sabah Keelback (Hebius flavifrons) was so tiny I thought it was bird poo on the leaf when I first spotted it! This is the first snake species I saw a few days after arriving in Sabah for my first trip. I subsequently encountered a fair few during my many months in the jungle. I very beautiful snake species if you ask me. This species is endemic to the island of Borneo.
Happy Earth Day! I spent it capturing salamanders at the base of a beautiful waterfall. This guy is a Pacific Giant Salamander (Dicamptodon tenebrosus), of which we caught 9! We also caught 5 other species and possibly 1 other still being confirmed, a rare endemic. It's been a really fun Herpetology trip, more photos to come!
