💥 NEWS FLASH💥 In your second (and subsequent) pregnancies 🤰🏽 you need to care for yourself EVEN MORE than the first time around.
According to Chinese Medicine we have a certain amount of handed down and stored Qi (energy). If you didn’t do a particularly good job at rejuvenating after your first birth, or you’ve been going hard (being pretty Yang) since, you won’t have the same fuel in the bank to see you through ongoing pregnancies. You won’t be able to rely on all that Qi you had stored in the bank, chances are it’s running very low!
I have definitely found this to be the case with my second pregnancy. Not looking after myself postpartum with my first (because I could do it all, so I did), plus now being pregnant again without the same ability to rest (because toddler). I have not been able to produce the same energy output. I can feel that my Qi simply is not there, I’m having to take extra measures to look after myself (and actually it’s been delicious). Even just looking at blood work over the past 4 years (did you know you can get those results?) I can see how my Iron stores were high, then were very low after my first birth, never really recovered and then dipped to virtually nothing this time around. This is much what I imagine my Qi stores would look like if I could see them represented on a piece of paper.
Just one of the reasons I’m passionate about natural remedies and support for pregnant women. Whether it’s first, or second and beyond pregnancies. Energy and nutrient stores need to be nourished. The women needs to be nourished so that her vital and spiritual energy does not become depleted.
