I love our new blender! @nutrininjauk 😍🙌🏽
SO much better than the Nutribullet..!
A typical daily #greensmoothie where I get my #VitaminC hit.. here I’ve put in raw #spinach, raw #kale, an #apple, a #banana, an #orange, #pumpkinseeds, #sunflowerseeds, #chiaseeds, #hemppowder, #spirulina, #matcha, #moringa, green superfood powder & #LGlutamine topped up with water & a tiny bit of unsweetened almond milk.
I understand that eating raw veggies isn’t perhaps as good for gut sufferers as many people think.. to make it easier to digest, cooking helps break them down on a cellular level.. also, eating raw kale isn’t particularly advisable for someone with a family history of thyroid dysfunction, so from today I’m going to lightly steam any kale I have, then blend that along with the water used to steam it & pour into ice cube trays so I can use cooked kale ice cubes in my smoothies instead of eating it blended raw..
I’m not sure this is as necessary with spinach but will do sone more research on it. Kale however, is so good for you, but notoriously difficult to digest in its natural state. 🌱🍎🍊🍌
Also good to note that seeds need to be chewed through, ie. broken with the teeth / a blender to extract ANY nutritional value.. (they are designed to pass straight through us) hence why chia seeds, (although amazing for gut health) NEED to be soaked in water, milk, yogurt or some liquid for a good few hours before consuming.
If they are eaten without prior soaking, they may get stuck along the digestive tract & irritate the gut lining further.. I personally hate the texture of soaked chia seeds, (it’s slimy & a bit gross) but the ‘pudding’ can be poured into the blender to be whizzed up with everything else.
So a bit of prep, but worth it to get maximum nutritional value for optimum #guthealing.. ____________________
